Cruise News Digest — December 24, 2023

Welcome to the weekly Cruise News Digest. Here you can catch up on the past week’s cruise news and all things La Lido Loca

Let’s dive in!

Our week began with the end of some severe weather that rerouted multiple cruise ships and closed PortMiami temporarily. The cruise terminal did reopen several hours later, but not before delaying the disembarkation and subsequent embarkation of seven cruise ships.

The next few days were all about Carnival Jubilee. First was the announcement that the cruise line’s newest flagship would “usher in a roster of new and reimaged experiences” for families. This includes new programming for the cruise line’s Suess at Sea experience and new experiences throughout the ship that will celebrate cultures around the world and journey into space.

Carnival Jubilee is bringing a Texas-sized deck party to the Lido during each cruise. Celebrating the spirit of Texas and football, the Lone Star Tailgate is exclusive to Carnival Jubilee and divided into four quarters–just like a football game. It is more than the deck party though, the entertainment promises to be Texas-sized and themed, along with a new live show, “Dear Future Husband.”

Princess Cruises’ Diamond Princess officially embarked on its Singapore season this week after arriving from Japan. Her Singapore itineraries include two 10- to 14-day cruises that include a Christmas and New Year’s cruise along with the opportunity to celebrate Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day on a February 6, 2024 sailing. Diamond Princess will sail a repositioning cruise from Singapore to Japan on March 5, 2024, where she will begin her Japan 2024 season on March 18, 2024.

Carnival Corporation announced record-breaking bookings on its year-end and fourth quarter earnings call. CEO Josh Weinstein also revealed that Carnival Corporation’s brands had carried about 3.5 million guests who were new to cruising. Looking forward to 2024, the company is expecting to continue to sell out ships and break records.

Royal Caribbean International introduced the first-ever holiday marketplace on any of its ships. The Oasis Holiday Marketplace in partnership with Starboard Cruise Services can be found on Oasis of the Seas’ Deck 8. Guests will find Christmas ornaments, holiday apparel, toys, home decor, and the big man himself–Santa Claus!
