Cruise News Digest–December 1, 2024

Welcome to the weekly Cruise News Digest. Here you can catch up on the past week’s cruise news and all things La Lido Loca

Let’s dive in!

From itinerary changes to redeployments to cancellations, Norwegian Cruise Line is keeping its guests guessing if their cruises will happen as planned. Norwegian Getaway, Norwegian Jewel, Norwegian Star, Norwegian Dawn, and Norwegian Jade have all had major changes made to itineraries. Norwegian Cruise Line is automatically refunding fare’s and issuing a 10% discount in FCC, but no one likes to have their cruise changed.

Cunard recently conducted a study of 40 guests sailing a transatlantic cruise aboard Queen Mary 2 and the results are in–cruising is good for your mental and emotional well-being! If you have been on a cruise, you probably already knew this, but Cunard now has the science to back it up.

This week Carnival Corporation announced leadership changes within its global leadership team for Princess Cruises, Holland America Line and Seabourn. Current president of Holland America Line, Gus Antorcha, is replacing John Padgett as president of Princess Cruises. Holland America Line’s current senior vice president and chief commercial officer, Beth Bodensteiner, has been promoted to president of the cruise line and will have executive responsibility for Seabourn. Seabourn will welcome back Mark Tamis as its new president replacing Natalya Leahy.

The very first “Love Boat” began homeporting from Port Canaveral on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. Caribbean Princess will offer a diverse schedule of Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises ranging from 6- to 8-nights which can be combined for a 14-day cruise.

Also from Princess Cruises, Kylie Minogue is partnering with the cruise line’s “Love Line Premium Liquor” Collection. Her award winning No Alcohol Sparkling Rosé has sold 17 million bottles worldwide since its inception in 2020. Minogue is the seventh celebrity to join Princess Cruises’ “Love Line Premium Liquors Collection” which is offered fleet-wide and included in the Princess Plus and Princess Premier Packages.

Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas has been unable to visit San Juan, Puerto Rico, since the port is unable to accommodate the Oasis-class vessel at Pier 3. The US Coast Guard announced the pier would remain closed to cruise ships until it receives the necessary assessment studies and completes its own inspection. To date, two sailings have been impacted, but Royal Caribbean is making itinerary changes as needed knowing the port could reopen at any time.
