Carnival Corporation Making Big Leadership Moves

On Monday, November 25, 2024, Carnival Corporation announced big moves within its global leadership team for Princess Cruises, Holland America Line and Seabourn.

Current president of Holland America Line, Gus Antorcha, is replacing John Padgett as president of Princess Cruises effective December 2, 2024. Padgett is stepping away from the business in mid-February 2025. Holland America Line’s current senior vice president and chief commercial officer, Beth Bodensteiner, has been promoted to president of the cruise line effective December 2, 2024. Antorcha and Bodensteiner will both report to Josh Weinstein, CEO of Carnival Corporation and plc.

Additionally, Bodensteiner will have executive responsibility for Seabourn, Carnival Corporation’s ultra-luxury brand. The cruise line will welcome back Mark Tamis as its new president. Tamis replaced Natalya Leahy who has held the titles of CFO of Holland America Line and Seabourn, COO of the former Holland America Group, and finally president of Seabourn. Leahy is moving on to a position outside of Carnival.

Of Antorcha and Bodensteiner, Weinstein said, “Gus and Beth are proven leaders who reflect the talent and capabilities of our organization and who have a deep knowledge of our industry, our business, and what drives our success. Under their leadership, I have no doubt that Princess, Holland America and Seabourn will remain well-positioned for a bright future, and we look forward to the next chapter for these two world-class brands and their ongoing success.”

As president of Princess Cruises, Antorcha will “oversee all performance and operational aspects of the cruise line’s global fleet of 16 ships sailing over 1.7 million guests annually to 330+ destinations around the world.” He brings his experience of managing Holland America Line as well as various leadership positions with Carnival Cruise Line to the iconic Love Boat brand.

Bodensteiner brings more than 20 years of cruise line experience to her position as president of Holland America Cruise Line. She will manage every facet of the cruise line “including its fleet of 11 ships sailing more than 500 cruises to over 450 ports in 110-plus countries and territories around the world.”

Tamis’ resume boasts of more than three decades of ultra-luxury cruising and expedition experience making him the best man for the job of president of Seabourn. He has served as global president of Aimbridge Hospitality, led hotel and onboard operations for Royal Caribbean International, and served as senior vice president of guest operations for Carnival Cruise Line. Additionally, he worked for more than two decades with brands such as Four Season Hotels and Resorts and Ian Schrager Hotels.

Each team member–Gus Antorcha, Beth Bodensteiner, and Mark Tamis–is eager to fulfill their new role, continue building their brand, and help millions of guests have the best vacation experience possible.
