Welcome to the weekly Cruise News Digest. Here you can catch up on the past week’s cruise news and all things La Lido Loca.
Let’s dive in!
2025 will bring several new ships. Beginning in April 2025, MSC Cruises’ MSC World America will begin sailing from PortMiami and Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Aqua will embark from Port Canaveral. In May, the first of two Disney Cruise Line ships, Disney Adventure, will sail from Singapore and the second, Disney Destiny, will begin sailing from Port Canaveral in November. Royal Caribbean International’s Star of the Seas will also sail from Port Canaveral beginning in August. September will bring Princess Cruises’ Star Princess sailing from Barcelona, Spain, and Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady sailing from the four corners of the United States.
Two big announcements came out of Norwegian Cruise Line this week. The first is the two new entertainment options debuting on Norwegian Aqua in April 2025–”Revolution: A Celebration of Prince,” and “Elements: The World Expanded.” Both shows were developed by NCL’s creative team in Tampa, Florida and are sure to be captivating.
The second announcement was the name of the cruise line’s next Prima Plus Class ship–Norwegian Luna. La Lida Loca’s Tony B was invited to Venice, Italy by Norwegian Cruise LIne to witness the progress of Norwegian Aqua and was on hand for the big announcement.
Carnival Cruise Line opened bookings for new 2026/2027 sailing options from both the East and West coasts of the United States. Expanded itineraries will sail from PortMiami and Port Canaveral out of Florida, Port Norfolk out of Virginia, and for the first time, the Port of San Francisco out of California.
Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Treasure completed another milestone–her conveyance down the Ems River and into open water for the first time. She will undergo extensive sea trials under the command of Captain Marco Nogara before being officially handed over to Disney Cruise Line by the Meyer Werft shipyard. Disney Treasure will celebrate Christmas at sea as she embarks on her 7-night Eastern Caribbean maiden voyage on December 21, 2024.
Virgin Voyages’ first lady, Scarlet Lady, is getting “full-on glow-up” in November. Her renovations will include new suites, expanded dining and lounge spaces, new VIP cabanas, updates to the casino and spa area, and a refreshed signature Mermaid. After her makeover, she will sail a 16-night transatlantic voyage from Rome to Miami where she will begin sailing 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Eastern Caribbean escapes and visit ports such as St. Croix, Roatan, San Juan, and the Beach Club at Bimini.
