Disney Treasure is one step closer to her debut as she reached another milestone Wednesday morning, September 18, 2024. Being guided by a tugboat down the Ems River, the third of the Triton-class Disney Cruise Line ships left the Meyer Werft shipyard toward open waters for the first time. Waving spectators line the shores of the river to celebrate the vessel’s conveyance down the waterway.
Disney Treasure will now undergo her sea trials under the watchful eye of Captain Marco Nogara as he ensures the ship is ready for her transatlantic journey to her homeport in Florida. Captain Marco has sailed for Disney Cruise Line since 2010 as captain of Disney Wonder. In 2011, he captained Disney Magic, and in 2012, he was appointed to captain Disney Fantasy. Once Disney Treasure’s sea trials are accomplished, Meyer Werft shipyard will complete delivery to Disney Cruise Line and the 4,000-passenger vessel will be ready for her official debut.
Disney Treasure will celebrate Christmas at sea as she embarks on her maiden voyage on December 21, 2024. The 7-Night Eastern Caribbean cruise will depart from Port Canaveral, Florida and visit Tortola, British Virgin Islands; St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands; and Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in The Bahamas. She will also ring in the New Year at sea as she sails a 7-Night Western Caribbean cruise that will call on Cozumel, Mexico; George Town, Grand Cayman; Falmouth, Jamaica; and Castaway Cay. Led by Captain Minnie Mouse on the ship’s bow, Disney Treasure is then scheduled to sail alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean adventures from Port Canaveral, Florida through May 30, 2026.
Throughout the construction process, Disney Cruise Line has released many details about the LNG-powered Disney Treasure. For example, Haunted Mansion fans will want to visit the Haunted Mansion Parlor, and Moana fans will not want to miss the ship’s premier show, “Disney: The Tale of Moana.” And who can forget that Disney Treasure received the cruise line’s first ever signature song “Live the Adventure” reminding us that every guest of the ship will embark on a magical adventure.
