Disney Cruise Line Reveals Details About Premier Show on New Cruise Ship

Disney Cruise Line has revealed more information about its newest show,  “Disney: The Tale of Moana,” that will premier at the Walt Disney Theatre onboard Disney Treasure when she debuts in December 2024. The show, like the movie, will follow the story of Moana. The set design and music will immerse the audience into the culture of the Pacific Islands as they adventure across land and sea.

Disney Live Entertainment creative director of puppetry and articulation, Jeff Conover, and master puppet designer, Micheal Curry, partnered to bring some of the characters to life. Te Kā will be a massive puppet that will shed its fiery shell to become the gentle island goddess, Te Fiti, when Moana restores her heart.

Disney has also added a new song, “Warrior Face,” to the show. The song will be sung by Moana and Maui as the demigod teaches her how to face her fears before entering the Realm of Monsters. The song will accompany favorites from the Grammy-Award winning soundtrack including “You’re Welcome,” “We Know The Way” and “How Far I’ll Go.”

The show will begin in modern day on a set intended to immerse guests into the culture of the  Pacific Islands and Moana’s world. The spirit of Moana’s grandmother will introduce her granddaughter through song and dance in a mix of languages including Tuvaluan, Tokelauan and Samoan. This is where guests learn how the ocean chooses Moana.

The set transforms into the open ocean complete with twinkling stars and a giant, glowing manta ray (also the spirit of Moana’s grandmother) above the audience and leading the way for Moana as she sings “How Far I’ll Go.”

Not only will guests be able to enjoy “Disney: The Tale of Moana,” but also fan favorites like “Beauty and the Beast” and “Disney Seas the Adventure” in the Walt Disney Theatre which can hold up to 1,274 guests.

When Disney Treasure debuts in December 2024, she will alternate between 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises.
