Cruise News Digest–March 24, 2024

Welcome to the weekly Cruise News Digest. Here you can catch up on the past week’s cruise news and all things La Lido Loca

Let’s dive in!

With Spring Break season upon us, Carnival Cruise Line reminded cruisers ”Have Fun. Be Safe.” The cruise line issued a Code of Conduct letter to booked cruisers as a reminder that while Carnival wants them to have fun while cruising, there are consequences for bad ship behavior. The letter addressed four basic areas–general conduct, alcohol and beverages, smoking, and personal safety.

MSC Cruises revealed its naming ceremony plans for its newest flagship, MSC World America. The ceremony will take place on the evening of April 9, 2025, at the company’s state-of-the-art cruise terminal in Miami, Florida. This move also further solidifies MSC Cruises commitment to Miami and the North American market.

Adventurous foodies will be excited to know Virgin Voyages is hosting its third annual Eat & Drink Festival across its fleet this July 2024. The festival will introduce the first-ever Asian Night Market at Sea, a new six-course menu curated by Michelin-starred Chef Matt Lambert, and returning is the Seven Seas Sippers experience. Sailors who book now will receive up to a $200 Bar Tab as well.

Disney Cruise Line revealed the name of its third Wish-Class ship expected in 2025–Disney Destiny. The new ship will have the first-of-its-kins “Heroes and Villains” theme. Guests will encounter both heroes and villains from their favorite movies like “The Lion King,” “Hercules” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians” throughout the ship. In a Disney Cruise Line tradition, Captain Minnie Mouse will be featured in the filigree artwork on the bow of the ship.

Following its 150th anniversary in 2023, Holland America Line is offering an “Anniversary Sale” to celebrate year 151. Going on now through the end of April, cruisers are able to take advantage of discounts of up to 45% across the cruise line’s fleet of 11 ships. Cruisers can also receive up to $300 onboard credit per stateroom, 50% reduced deposits, and complimentary cruise fares for the third and fourth travelers. Additionally, the offer can be combined with the cruise line’s “Have It All” premium fare. The sale is available on sailings worldwide.

Carnival Cruise Line has revealed a little more about its new private destination opening July 2025 on Grand Bahama Island, Celebration Key. We know Celebration Key will feature five portals, but now we know a little more about Paradise Plaza and Calypso Lagoon. Paradise Plaza will welcome guests with a rainbow promenade leading guests to an Instagram worthy photo op under a sun-shaped arch. While Calypso Lagoon will offer the largest freshwater lagoon in the Caribbean, a sport court, a unique bar with nearly 50 swings, a mile of beautiful beach, restaurants, Bahamian food trucks, and an adults-only section with a swim up bar, DJ, loungers, daybeds, and cabanas. Carnival will continue to release details of its new private destination in the coming months.
