Disney Cruise Line Reveals Name of Third Wish-Class Ship

Disney Cruise Line has revealed the name of their new ship set to be delivered in 2025–Disney Destiny.

Disney Cruise Line made the announcement on the same day the ship’s keel laying ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. The keel laying ceremony is a maritime tradition said to bestow good luck upon the ship. Disney Destiny will be the third Wish-class ship in the cruise line’s fleet, sister ship to Disney Wish and Disney Treasure which is coming later this year.

Disney Destiny will have the first-of-its-kind “Heroes and Villains” theme inspired by the opposing forces of good and evil in every Disney movie which inevitably allows the hero to reach their full potential. Guests will come face to face with both heroes and villains from beloved movies like “The Lion King,” “Hercules” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians” throughout the ship.

“The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager, Disney Cruise Line. “As we continue to expand our fleet, the Disney Destiny will further strengthen our position as a leader in family cruising as we offer even more ways for families to experience Disney magic and world-class service at sea.”

Disney Cruise Line also revealed that Minnie Mouse will be featured in the filigree artwork on the bow of the ship–a Disney Cruise Line tradition. “Hero Minnie” takes a fearless stance in her heroic cape as she leads guests on their own superhero cruise vacations.

Along with the announcement of the ship’s name, an animated short titled “Heroes & Villains on the High Seas” was released on YouTube which follows Minnie as she tries to find Disney Destiny’s missing commemorative coin. The short has hints as to who and what we might encounter on the new ship and ends with Captain Minnie reminding us “there’s a hero in all of us.”

Disney Destiny is part of a multi-year expansion of the Disney Cruise Line fleet which includes Disney Wish, which entered service in 2022, Disney Treasure, which is set to enter service in December 2024, and Disney Adventure, which will homeport from Singapore when she debuts in 2025. Not only is the cruise line adding ships to its fleet but it is also awaiting the grand opening of its one-of-a-kind tropical retreat, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point in The Bahamas, in June 2024.
