Carnival Cruise Line has revealed details for two of its five portals at its new private destination on Grand Bahama Island, Celebration Key, expected to debut in July 2025.
The first portal, Paradise Plaza, will welcome guests with its rainbow colored promenade leading guests under a sun-shaped arch. The perfect photo op. As guests enter under the arch, they will be treated to live music, a Bahamian-themed fountain, and an ice cream shop. The arch will also frame the 10-story Suncastle–a “sandcastle” with waterslides all around. Paradise Plaza will also help direct guests to other portals on the island.
“When guests see our Suncastle as they arrive at Celebration Key, they’ll know immediately they’re in for big FUN. Paradise Plaza will be the perfect welcome spot and will set the tone for the entire visit to this truly unique destination. These new details show the creative design that’s gone into the development of each portal, with Calypso Lagoon alone offering a wide variety of options to fill the day, while honoring the beauty of Grand Bahama and celebrating Bahamian culture,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.
West of Paradise Plaza guests will find the adult-friendly Calypso Lagoon. Here guests will find the largest freshwater lagoon in the Caribbean, a sports court, and a unique bar with nearly 50 swings and nearly a mile of a beautiful beach. A portion of Calypso Lagoon will be a designated adult-only section and feature a large swim-up bar, a DJ, loungers, daybeds and cabanas. Hungry guests will find two full-service restaurants and snack shacks as well as Bahamian food trucks.
Carnival Cruise Line previously announced three other portals–a family-friendly portal, a private club portal, and a retail portal–and will share more information about these portals in the months ahead. The cruise line has also already announced a second phase for Celebration Key that will include a waterpark and zipline, and a pier extension allowing Celebration Key to welcome about 4 million guests annually.
Carnival Cruise Line currently has more than 500 itineraries across 18 ships open for sale to visit Celebration Key with the first guests visiting in July 2025.
