Cruise News Digest–November 19, 2023

Our week began with the news that Rhapsody of the Seas is returning to Latin America after almost a decade. She is offering a series of winter sailings out of Panama and Columbia beginning December 2, 2023. Rhapsody of the Seas is a Vision-class ship that can carry 2,400 guests, and her onboard services and amenities will be catered to the Latin American community. Cruises to Panama and Colombia are trending upward, and the arrival of Rhapsody of the Seas to this region further reinforces this upward trend.

Disney Cruise Line has opened a magical new cruise terminal at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The new terminal was dedicated on November 13, 2023, and Disney Dream began sailing out of the port on November 20, 2023. When guests enter the terminal they will be immersed into the Pixar film “Finding Nemo” as they find their favorite friends as murals on the terminal walls.

Midweek saw Regent Seven Seas Cruises taking delivery of Seven Seas Grandeur from Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. Seven Seas Grandeur is the third, and last,  Explorer-class ship built by Fincantieri for Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the luxury brand for Norwegian Cruise Line. The vessel began her maiden voyage on Saturday, November 18, 2023, when she embarked from Venice, Italy to sail a 7-day cruise to Barcelona, Spain.

Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Jubilee was in the news this week as she successfully completed her sea trials. She will soon be delivered and ready to welcome guests in Galveston, Texas where she makes her debut on December 23, 2023. When she debuts, she will be the first Carnival ship and first vessel in North America to offer 5G connectivity. The service will be available early 2024 aboard Carnival Jubilee, and the cruise line has plans to extend the service across its twenty-six vessel fleet.

We are just one week away from National Cake Day on November 26, 2023. Holland America Line and its 189 pastry and assistant chefs are ready! The team which hails from India, Colombia, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines are bringing their favorite recipes and creations to the entire fleet during the new “Cake Me Away” dessert celebration in the Lido Market. Guests will be able to choose from more than 22 mouthwatering five-layer cakes in 16 flavors and the Sweet Spot in the Lido Market will be offering a selection of mini-jar cakes as part of its daily dessert rotation.
