Cruise News Digest–December 8, 2024

Welcome to the weekly Cruise News Digest. Here you can catch up on the past week’s cruise news and all things La Lido Loca

Let’s dive in!

Last week, Norwegian Cruise Line was keeping its guests guessing if their cruises will happen as planned. This week, the cruise line released itineraries for Norwegian Dawn and Norwegian Star. Replacing the canceled sailing in South America and Africa, both ships will now be sailing from the Port of Tampa for the 2025-26 winter season.

Virgin Voyages is offering Sailors a new annual pass. Whether Sailors want to experience the warm water of the Caribbean or the striking landscapes of Alaska, Virgin Voyages is offering unlimited sailings for an entire calendar year across the cruise line’s entire fleet. No matter the length of the voyage, passholders will stay in a Sea Terrace cabin complete with a private balcony and a signature red hammock.  Additionally, passholders automatically receive the top tier of Virgin Voyages’ loyalty program giving them Deep Blue Extras.

For the first time, Celebrity Cruises is sailing from Port Canaveral, Florida. Celebrity Equinox will homeport from the central Florida port and offer a variety of 7-night sailings. The vessel will visit more than 15 popular destinations, including Perfect Day at CocoCay, throughout the Eastern and Western Caribbean.

Cunard has announced Queen Elizabeth will receive a “transformative” makeover before her 2025 inaugural season from PortMiami and her debut in Alaska from Seattle. Queen Elizabeth will see her interior and exterior spaces refreshed including her suites, the Grills, the Commodore Club, Queens Room, Garden Lounge and The Pavilion.

Carnival Cruise Line has been quietly raising the prices of some of its specialty dining, its Cheers! Beverage Program, and its WiFi plans. Even though Carnival has not increased these prices since late 2023, guests are still upset. However they do not appear to be upset about the price increase, but rather that booked guests were not “warned” and given an opportunity to lock in the lower rate.
