If you don’t want to wait til 2024, you can see Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas while playing Fortnite.
Royal Caribbean and Fortnite have partnered and created a unique experience in the Metaverse called “Hide ‘n’ Sea” that is onboard Icon of the Seas.
This is not the first time a cruise ship has joined the Metaverse. If you recall, sister brand Celebrity Cruises announced Celebrity Beyond was joining the Metaverse in December 2022.
If you’d like to virtually explore two of Icon of the Seas’ new neighborhoods, Thrill Island and the Hideaway, you will need to down Fortnite and create a free account. After entering Icon of the Seas in-game island code, 2569-9622-8657, you will be able to explore the ship while collecting coins and playing hide and seek.
If you are over about the age of 24, you may be wondering what Fortnite is. Fortnite is an online multiplayer video game that you can download on your phone, desktop, or tablet. Over 400 million people worldwide have created accounts and you can find three million people online at any time. Given the demographics of Fortnite, it seems that Royal Caribbean is trying to draw a bigger audience and build even more anticipation for Icon of the Seas’ maiden voyage.
While Fortnite does not house a full tour, you will be able to experience the record-breaking Category 6 water park and the adventure course made up of a rope course, skywalk, and thrill ride, Crown’s Edge.
The game takes place at sea so you can expect some stunning views while viewing the world’s first suspended infinity pool at sea, Hideaway Pool, the FlowRider surf simulator and Lost Dunes miniature golf course. Oh, and you’re also playing hide and seek so you will either be a “prop” hiding from the sea-kers or the sea-ker looking for the “props.” Either way it will be a cool experience in the game.
