Princess Cruises Plans Coronation Activities

In celebration of King Charles III coronation next month, Princess Cruises has announced coronation themed activities and entertainment onboard two of its ships based out of the United Kingdom. 

Sky Princess and Regal Princess both sail out of Southampton and guests onboard those ships on May 6 will be treated to a lineup of events celebrating King Charles’ ascension to the throne. Both ships will have live coverage of “The Coronation Service at Westminster” and “The Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle.” These will be shown on the 300-square-foot “Movies Under the Stars” jumbotron and “The Biggest Street Party” will be replicated on the top deck.

Guests will be served a “Royal Afternoon Tea” that will showcase British favorites like Victoria sponge cake. On the top deck guests will find pimms and strawberries and the World Marketplace will serve British favorites such as fish and chips, sausage rolls and trifle. 

Grant Harrold, former British household member and a leading etiquette expert, royal commentator and broadcaster, will speak onboard Regal Princess from May 3-5 and Sky Princess from May 6-13. 

The Piazza on board the ships will be decked out for the occasion as well. The cruise line will use banners and buntings in Royal colors and guests will be encouraged to wear the Royal red, white and blue for a special night on the ship. 

On coronation day, Regal Princess’ itinerary around the British Isles will call on Holyhead, Wales. Guests will have the opportunity to experience the historical coronation in a part of the United Kingdom that has played a big role in the life of King Charles III. 

Sky Princess will offer multiple coronation themed entertainment which will include a special Royal Variety Show in the Princess Theatre which will include a tribute to Elton John. In Princess Live! guests can take part in Royal Trivia. 

Regal Princess departs on April 30 for her eight night cruise to Ireland and Scotland with ports of call at Portland, Guernsey, Cork, Greenock  and Holyhead. 

Sky Princess departs on Coronation Day, May 6, on her seven night cruise to Spain and France with ports of call to Guernsey, La Rochelle, Bilbao and La Coruna.
