Welcome to the weekly Cruise News Digest. Here you can catch up on the past week’s cruise news and all things La Lido Loca

Let’s dive in!

Costa Cruises is continuing the celebration of her 75th Anniversary. The cruise line celebrated the anniversary on March 31, 2023, but is continuing the celebration now. The series of events, which began on October 19, 2023, are taking place in Genoa and will continue through October 27, 2023.

While the war is still going on in the Middle East, Royal Caribbean’s Rhapsody of the Seas was called upon by the United States Department of State to help evacuate American citizens out of Israel. Dozens of United States citizens and their families traveled from very early in the morning on Monday, October 16, 2023, to arrive at the port by 8am. Many of those passengers cited safety, family, and personal concerns as their reason to board the ship to Cyprus.

The Nassau Cruise Port is breaking more records. As of September 2023, Nassau Cruise Port has already exceeded its passenger visits for all of 2022. The winter season brings the highest cruise passenger visit time for the Bahamas making it entirely possible that 2023 will be a record breaking year for the Nassau Cruise Port.

TUI Cruises is not naming its newest ship with a number. Instead the new InTUItion class ship will be christened Mein Schiff Relax. The company’s choice of the name Meir Schiff Relax is a direct reflection of the cruise line’s dedication to the health and relaxation of its guests through its onboard programming and amenities.

Royal Caribbean is counting down the days to the inaugural sailing of the world’s largest cruise ship. Icon of the Seas will set sail from her homeport of Miami, Florida on January 27, 2024. The email read in part, “In just 100 days, The World’s Best Family Vacation debuts.”

Thursday, October 19, 2023, Norwegian Cruise Line celebrated its return to Asia after a three-year hiatus when Norwegian Jewel set sail from Tokyo on an 11-day voyage. By the 2024-2025 season, Norwegian Cruise Line will have four ships deployed in the region–Norwegian Jewel, Norwegian Sun, Norwegian Spirit and Norwegian Sky.
