Nassau Cruise Port Breaking Records

As of September 2023, Nassau Cruise Port has already exceeded its passenger visits for all of 2022. The winter season brings the highest cruise passenger visit time for the Bahamas making it entirely possible that 2023 will be a record breaking year for the Nassau Cruise Port.

The total number of passengers visiting the port through September 2023 is more than 11,000 passengers greater than 2022. It is estimated the cruise port is on track to welcome 4.2 million passengers for 2023. This would be a new annual passenger record.

“We are thrilled to have reached this milestone and to do so just in time to celebrate our fourth anniversary makes the achievement extraordinarily special,” said chief executive officer, Mike Maura Jr. “Our success reflects the resilience and commitment of the cruise industry and is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the entire Nassau Cruise Port team, the Bahamian government, our community, and our industry partners. Together, we have transformed the Bahamian cruise tourism product and brand, quickly turning Nassau into a premier destination for cruisers around the world. The best is yet to come.”

This is not too surprising since Nassau Cruise Port has been breaking records all year.  Before its grand reopening in May 2022, the port had already broken its own single day passenger record on three occasions —twice in January and then again in February. On the record breaking day in February, the first and third largest cruise ships were in port, Wonder of the Seas and Harmony of the Seas and 28,554 guests visited the port that day.

In the coming months, cruise ships from every major cruise line will visit the port almost assuring Nassau Cruise Port’s record breaking year.
