Carnival Cruise Line Debuting Vegan Menus Fleetwide

Carnival Cruise Line is debuting its new vegan menu on Carnival Freedom in Port Canaveral and Carnival Horizon in PortMiami.

The ship’s dining room menus will offer appetizers, entrees and desserts that are completely vegan. Recipes have been created that do not contain animal products, but proteins made from meat substitutes.

“Plant-based food options are a rising preference on our ships just as they are on land, and so the new dishes we’re introducing are a direct response to that shift,” said Richard Morse, senior vice president of food and beverage at Carnival Cruise Line. “Our skilled chefs work to accommodate all dietary needs and preferences but building on our vegan offerings and emphasizing them with specific menus will help to make ordering easier in the dining room and preparation more efficient in the galley.”

The choices featured in the new vegan menu include Hawaiian Salmon Poke, Stuffed Mushrooms, and Spaghetti Carbonara for appetizers. For entrees the menu features Grilled Tofu Steak, Baked Vegetable Au Gratin, and Eggplant Cutlet a la Parmigiana. Want dessert? Guests will find Key Lime Velvet Cake, Dutch Double Chocolate Pave, and Cappuccino Pot de Crème.

The menus were first tested on Carnival Magic and will now be introduced fleet-wide on a phased schedule through the end of the year. By the end of September, the vegan menu will also be available on Carnival Dream, Carnival Valor, Carnival Radiance, Carnival Miracle, Carnival Panorama and Mardi Gras.

By the end of October, the vegan menu will be available on Carnival Celebration, Carnival Sunrise, Carnival Glory, Carnival Conquest, Carnival Vista, Carnival Breeze, Carnival Sunshine and Carnival Elation. Carnival Paradise and Carnival Spirit are next in line to offer the new menus by the end of November and Carnival Legend, Carnival Venezia and Carnival Jubilee by the end of December.

Carnival chefs along with Chief Culinary Officer Emeril Legesse are also continuing to add new dishes to its regular dining room menus. The new menus and dishes are part of Carnival’s initiative to continue to bring more variety to its dining room menu offerings.
