Carnival Corporation Installing Starlink

Following in the footsteps of Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Hurtigruten, and SeaDream Yacht Club, Carnival Corporation has announced its agreement with SpaceX’s Starlink. With Starlink, cruise lines are able to offer faster, more reliable WiFi to its guests.

Starlink Installation began on Carnival Cruise Line and AIDA Cruise ships in December, and it will roll out to Carnival Corporation’s other fleets—Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn, P&O Cruises in Australia and the UK, Costa Cruises, and Cunard.

Starlink onboard is as good as land connectivity. Actually, it surpasses your home connection because it uses a dual satellite connection. It allows Carnival Corporation to provide the best WiFi for its guests who like to stay connected while on vacation.

CEO of Carnival Corporation, Josh Weinstein said,“For many of our guests, it has become more and more important to maintain the type of connectivity at sea that they’ve become accustomed to at home, and of course to share the unforgettable experiences of their cruise with friends and family.”

“We are in the business of delivering happiness, and Starlink makes it as easy as possible for our guests to share all their great moments and memories, giving them even more joy out of their cruise vacation.”

Starlink is the leader in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) technology, expands bandwidth, and provides more reliable WiFi globally. This gives cruise lines the ability to to introduce new services and features and real-time communications from the ship to shore.

“High-speed, low-latency broadband internet is critical in our modern age, and we’re excited to provide Carnival Cruise Line and AIDA’s guests an internet experience that makes their travel even more enjoyable,” said Jonathan Hofeller, vice president of Starlink sales for SpaceX. “In even the most remote waters, guests onboard Carnival Corporation ships will be able to share real-time updates with friends and family.”

Not only will Carnival’s guests benefit from Starlink, but it also allows crew members to stay in contact with their friends and family.

It is not known what or if Carnival Corporation will charge for this new Starlink WiFi, but guests on board Carnival Cruise Line ships should start noticing a difference.
