U.S. News has announced the 2023 Best Cruise Lines The rankings spotlight 17 cruise lines in an effort to help travelers make the best decisions for their cruise.
“After more than two years of sailing restrictions and limited voyage options due to the coronavirus pandemic, cruisers and cruise lines are excited to be on the seas again,” said Nicola Wood, senior travel editor at U.S. News. “The Best Cruise Lines rankings evaluate a variety of cruise types, making it easy for travelers to find the best options that fit their budgets, cruising styles and desired destinations.”
After just one full year of cruising, Virgin Voyages has taken the top spot for Best Cruise Lines for the Money. U.S. News considered cruise line quality, average fare per night, and other features like free gratuities, WiFi access and all-inclusive package options. Carnival Cruise Line, known for its lower fares and sales ranked second and Celebrity Cruises, known for a more upscale cruise at a reasonable rate ranked third.
Disney Cruise Line was recognized as Best Cruise Line for Families for the ninth year in a row. The family-oriented cruise line offers things like character meet-and-greets, themed dinners, evening fireworks, and more. Royal Caribbean International was ranked second because of its onboard amenities that cater to all ages. Carnival Cruise Line came in third due to their family-friendly water parks, basketball courts, rope courses and other activities.
There are six categories that U.S. News ranks: Best Cruise Lines for the Money, Best Cruise Lines for Families, Best Cruise Lines for Couples, Best Cruise Lines in the Caribbean, Best Cruise Lines in the Mediterranean and Best Luxury Cruise Lines. They are evaluated by a thorough procedure that considers ship quality, ratings, itinerary offerings, health assessments and more.
It is notable that Disney Cruise Line not only ranked in the top spot for Best Cruise Lines for Families, but also for Best Cruise Lines in the Caribbean. Virgin Voyages also ranked second in Best Cruise Lines in the Caribbean. Viking ranked number one in Best Cruise Lines for Couples, Best Cruise Lines in the Mediterranean, and Best Luxury Cruise Lines.
