Sun Princess, Princess Cruise Line’s first Sphere-class ship, is set to debut a new top-deck family activity zone when it debuts in February 2024.
Park 19 will be located on decks 19, 20 and 21 and offer nine activities for the entire family including the first Rollglider at sea.
“Park19 as the name suggests is a new space created for all our guests, including activities to bring together multi-generational travel families in a location with spectacular views and fun outdoor activities for all,” said John Padgett, Princess Cruises president. “The new area was tailored based on guest feedback for more family and group activities spaces.”
The nine activities in Park 19 include:
Sea Breeze – the first Rollglider at sea will take guests high above to experience breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean and ports of call. From an overhead track, guests will be seated and harnessed to this electric ride which lasts 60- to 90-seconds and reaches speeds up to 11 mph. The ride is also ADA accessible.
Coastal Climb – as the name suggests, guests will climb through a series of obstacles from decks 19 to 20. At the top, guests can make their way to The Lookout where they can take in the beautiful views before sliding back to the bottom.
The Lookout – an open-air observation deck where guests can take in beautiful 360º views from the highest point available to guests onboard Sun Princess.
The Net – here guests will find themselves harnessed above deck 19 and challengers to trek across unstable bridges, a z-shaped balance beam and climb cargo nets.
Infinite Horizon – this is for guests who love heights. You will find leaning tilt walls that project over the side of the ship allowing guests to look down to deck nine and beyond.
Hammock Area – an area to take a break and just hang out with your family and friends.
Splash Zone – guests can enjoy pop jets, a beautiful water sculpture and a relaxing area to chill.
Recreational Court – guests looking for ping pong, shuffleboard, Xponential Fitness classes and more will find it here in this multifunctional sports court.
Jogging Track – guests can walk, jog, or run at their own pace on this open-air track. 6.7 times around the track equals one mile.
In addition, Sun Princess offers activities in the Youth & Teen Centers located on decks six and seven. Here families will find age appropriate activities from those younger guests ages six months to 17 years old.
These complimentary areas include:
Firefly Park – located on deck six, guests ages six months to seven years old can bring their families to explore and play. Families can either play together or drop their children off for a program of art projects, theme parties and group games. There is also a dedicated area for babies and toddlers to crawl and explore.
Neon Grove (tweens) and The Underground (teens) – located on deck seven, guests will find two separate yet similar spaces for tweens and teens to hang out, socialize, and just have fun. Guests will find colorful, comfy sofas and chairs for lounging, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch gaming consoles, plus air hockey, foosball, and skeeball. Activities for these age groups include ship scavenger hunts, movie nights, friendly competitions, and dance parties.
“These expanded offerings give younger cruisers plenty to explore and enjoy aboard Sun Princess, creating an even more family-friendly experience with something for everyone regardless of age,” Padgett added.
