Royal Caribbean International Stats and Fun Facts

Royal Caribbean International has ended 2023 with some impressive statistics and fun facts. The cruise line did an internal study and found that the top two reasons people choose to cruise are for the destination and the food. Therefore, it only makes sense that Royal Caribbean has carried more than six million guests to 252 ports of call worldwide and served those guests 14.5 million ice cream cones.

During 2023, over six million passengers have cruised on one of Royal Caribbean International’s 26 ships. This is 1.4 million more guests than sailed on a Royal Caribbean ship in 2022. Those 26 ships have sailed all over the world making 252 ports of call. The vessels have sailed Alaska, Canada & New England, Bermuda, Asia, the Panama Canal, Australia & New Zealand, Europe, South America, Hawaii, and the Caribbean and Bahamas.

The most popular ports of 2023 were Nassau and Cozumel, Mexico. Each port welcomed more than 3 million guests in 2023. In fact, Nassau welcomed 3.8 guests by November 2023. The popular port is expected to see more than four million cruise visitors in 2024.

Royal Caribbean has also sold 14.5 million soft serve ice cream cones across the fleet this year. This is more than one million cones monthly which is more than 39,700 cones daily. Adult passengers who do not want ice cream seem to choose pina coladas. The cruise line sold over 3.3 million pina coladas in 2023–more than 9,000 daily!

Naturally, there are more than ice cream and drink options aboard a Royal Caribbean ship. With the all-you-can-eat-buffet, Main Dining Room and specialty restaurants, there is something to eat for everyone.

Do you cruise for the shows? Royal Caribbean has AquaTheater shows, Broadway style musicals and one-of-a-kind production shows–something for everyone–in the main theater. In 2023, the cruise line’s casts put on 12,800 performances–that is 246 per week. The cruise line also offers daily trivia, stand up comedians, live music and so much more.

Prefer the casino? Royal Caribbean has you covered there. Whether it is the slots, blackjack, roulette or craps, 2023 has seen 82,135 Royal Caribbean guests get lucky by winning in Casino Royale.

Closing out 2023 and looking forward to 2024, Royal Caribbean International is expecting even more excitement. 2024 will see the debut of Icon of the Seas which has some pretty jaw dropping and impressive stats itself. Cruisers can look forward to more than 20 dining venues, 18 decks, nine hot tubs, eight neighborhoods, seven pools, six record-breaking waterslides and so much more.
