Princess Cruises Offers Two More Themed Cruises

Princess Cruises has announced they will offer two specifically themed “Pacific Coast Wine & Food Experience” cruises to depart in October 2023. The cruises will focus on family-owned wineries on the US West Coast aboard Discovery Princess and Sapphire Princess.

Discovery Princess will offer a 6-night voyage and depart on October 1, 2023, and Sapphire Princess will offer a 7-night cruise and depart on October 8, 2023. Both ships will be sailing an itinerary from Vancouver, British Columbia to Los Angeles.

These itineraries include two celebrated family wineries—Wagner Family of Wine and Jackson Family Wines. Wagner Family of Wine includes Caymus Vineyard and their world-famous Cabernet Sauvignon while Jackson Family Wines is the largest owner of coastal vineyards in California and Oregon. Guests will explore the Pacific Wine Country and visit Napa Valley wineries. Onboard guests can experience winemaker dinners, expert-guided wine tastings, food and wine pairings, and more.

The Wagner Family of Wine onboard Discovery Princess will depart from Vancouver on October 1, 2023. Port stops will include Victoria, British Columbia, and an overnight in San Francisco which can include a special excursion to Caymus Suisun Winery in American Canyon.

Guests can learn the history of Caymus and Wagner Family Wines and explore wine regions and tasting techniques. At the Caymus Winemaker Dinner, guests can learn the art of food and wine pairing from experts during a 5-course meal. Additionally, guests can indulge in a nautical wine tasting and enjoy foods paired with Sea Sun Chardonnay, Sea Sun Pinot Noir, Red Schooner ‘Voyage’ Malbec, and Red Schooner ‘Transit’ Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre blend. (All experiences have a surcharge).

The Jackson Family of Wine onboard Sapphire Princess will depart from Vancouver on October 8, 2023, with four day-long ports of call at Victoria, Astoria, San Francisco, and San Diego. Guests will experience wine pairings that celebrate the cuisine of the region.

Guests aboard Sapphire Princess can learn the history of Jackson Family Wines and explore wine regions and tasting techniques. At the Jackson Family Wines dinner, guests can enjoy a five-course meal paired with five pinnacle wines from the winery.  Winery tours will be offered in San Francisco, and a Chardonnay Comparative Tasting will be offered to guests who want to “discover the subtle nuances, aromas, and flavor profiles that set apart the chardonnays from four regions including Kendall-Jackson ‘Special Select,’ Hartford, Brewer-Clifton and Diatom Unoaked.”

Guests can also choose to explore Oregon to learn about the region and taste three local wines, attend a food and wine pairing event, or celebrate with an old-world/new-world comparative tasting event. Onboard guests can join a VIP Winemaker Dinner hosted by Kendell-Jackson’s head winemaker Randy Ullom and master sommelier Michael Jordan. (All experiences have a surcharge)
