Princess Cruises announced the name of its second Sphere-class ship, Star Princess, which will make her maiden Mediterranean debut in August 2025.
Star Princess is still under construction in Italy at the Fincantieri shipyard and will join her sister ship, Sun Princess, as the largest ship in the Princess fleet. Sun Princess will debut in 2024.
“There’s much to be admired about Star Princess – her sleek, eye-catching design, spacious interiors, and of course, the remarkable views of the sea and sky, just like the features found on Sun Princess that have prompted cruise lovers to snap up inaugural year bookings,” said John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises.
“We’ve carefully designed these ships to feel familiar to our guests yet significantly advanced with lots of exceptional new and expanded experiences to embrace and explore.”
Star Princess will accommodate 4,300 guests and is 20 percent bigger than all the other Princess ships. Despite her size, Star Princess will retain the intimate feel for which Princess Cruises is known.
Star Princess will feature new spaces such as:
- The Dome – a transformation entertainment venue inspired by the terraces of Santorini
- The next-level Piazza featuring a glass sphere
- The “see it to believe it” configurable, technologically- advanced main theater, Princess Arena
- A majestic dining room at the aft of the ship promising unforgettable views
Star Princess will also feature new food and beverage concepts, an expanded casino, a two story Lotus spa, and entertainment by Cirque Éloize. She will also be the second ship in the Princess fleet to be powered by LNG fuel technology and will utilize the most advanced sustainable innovations available.
Star Princess will make her debut on August 4, 2025 and sail a roundtrip nine-day Inaugural Italy and Greece cruise from Rome with calls in Corfu, Kotor, Mykonos, Santorini and Naples. She will then sail a series of nine- and ten-day cruises from Rome, Athens or Venice. Cruises aboard Star Princess can be booked beginning June 1, 2023.
