PortMiami Welcomes Record Number of Ships

PortMiami is known as the Cruise Capital of the World and with the record-breaking day it had recently, it is no surprise. On Saturday, February 8, 2025, the cruise welcomed 10 cruise ships and close to 68,000 passengers.

The 10 cruise ships homeporting from PortMiami represented seven different cruise lines, sailing 5- to 27-night itineraries. The ships were: Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Magic and Carnival Sunrise, Holland America’s Zaandam, MSC Cruises’ MSC Seascape, Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Gem, Oceania Cruises’ Sirena, Royal Caribbean International’s Icon of the Seas and Independence of the Seas, and Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady.

“It is no surprise PortMiami and the cruise industry continue to break records,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “PortMiami is the departure choice for all major cruise lines. As a destination, Miami-Dade is undoubtedly the center of world cruise tourism with incredible weather, culture and unlimited options for exciting experiences.”

Additionally, PortMiami’s 2025 season is scheduled to welcome seven new ships–both homeporting and day visits. In January, the port welcomed Cunard’s Queen Anne on her 112-day maiden World Voyage. MSC Cruises’ MSC World America and Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Aqua will both debut from PortMIami in April. MSC World America will homeport at the port year-round and offer alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries.

Beginning August 2025, Royal Caribbean International’s Wonder of the Seas will redeploy to PortMiami from Port Canaveral and offer 3- and 4-night Bahamian itineraries. In October, PortMiami will welcome Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth as she sails Eastern and Western Caribbean voyages until April 2026, and Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady will begin sailing 7- to 12-night Caribbean itineraries. Lastly, Oceania Cruises’ Allura will arrive in November to sail a Caribbean season.

Not only is PortMiami considered the Cruise Capital of the World but also the Cargo Gateway of the Americas. The port contributes $61 billion annually to Miami-Dade Country’s economy and provides more than 340,000 jobs.
