Norwegian Aqua Sailing Inaugural Voyage

Norwegian Cruise Line has welcomed its first guests aboard its new Prima Plus-class ship, Norwegian Aqua, for her inaugural sailing from Lisbon, Portugal to Southampton, England. The 2,000 invited guests are experiencing everything and MORE Norwegian Aqua has to offer while onboard. This sailing is the first of five inaugural voyages as the vessel makes her way to Miami for her official christening voyage in April.

“This is a milestone moment for Norwegian Cruise Line as we set sail aboard Norwegian Aqua, a ship designed to offer our guests MORE – more wide-open space, more thrills, more culinary experiences, and more immersive entertainment,” said David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. “During this inaugural season, we look forward to welcoming our travel partners from around the world and to give them the exclusivity of being the first to experience our newest product and to fully understand how guests can ‘Experience More at Sea’ with us.”

Norwegian Aqua is the first of six Prima Plus Class ships which are 10% larger than Prima Class ships. Guests aboard this inaugural sailing are experiencing “MORE of what they love about cruising with NCL” as well as “industry-first and brand-exclusive features.” One of those features is the hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide–Aqua Slidecoaster. Our very own Tony is enjoying this sailing of Norwegian Aqua and shared this short video of the Aqua Slidecoaster.

Guests can also experience the Glow Court, a digital sports complex with an interactive LED floor which is used for games by day and transformed into a club by night. The Galaxy Pavilion has been reimagined into the Aqua Game Zone with retro arcade, virtual reality and interactive game experiences.

Norwegian Aqua’s entertainment lineup includes “Revolution: A Celebration of Prince.” The production pays tribute to the legendary artist and his greatest hits. Guests can also enjoy “Elements: The World Expanded” which is a more immersive version of the cruise line’s top-rated show. The show blends acrobatics, magic and visuals of all four elements–earth, wind, fire and water.

Additionally, guests are the first to experience Norwegian Aqua’s 17 restaurants and 18 bars and lounges including NCL’s first-ever Thai specialty restaurant, Sukhothai, and the debut of the cruise line’s plant-based eatery, Planterie.

Following Norwegian Aqua’s inaugural voyage, she will sail a transatlantic voyage to Boston before arriving in Miami where she will be officially christened on April 13, 2025.
