Nassau Cruise Port is on track to break its passenger record yet again.
After welcoming more than 5 million cruise passengers in 2024, the port set a new passenger record when 30,538 passengers disembarked from six different cruise ships on March 11, 2025.
Docking at the Nassau Cruise Port that day were MSC Seaside, Disney Dream, and four Royal Caribbean Cruise Line ships – Independence of the Seas, Symphony of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas, and Utopia of the Seas.
The number of passenger arrivals reflects the resilience of the cruise industry and emphasizes the popularity and reputation of Nassau as a top vacation spot. Additionally, the port plays a crucial role in the economy of Nassau by its passengers supporting local vendors, restaurants and excursion operators, and with this number of passengers in a single day, not only is this a milestone for the port, but it also boosts the local economy.
“We are thrilled to announce this incredible achievement,” said Mike Maura, Jr., CEO and Director of Nassau Cruise Port. “Breaking this passenger record is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, our local partners, and the Bahamian people. But beyond the numbers, it’s about the joy of seeing families, couples, and friends making lasting memories together. It’s the smiling faces and the shared experiences that make Nassau such a special destination for cruise passengers.”
The ability of Nassau Cruise Port to host six ships simultaneously is a direct result of the port’s $330 million transformation in 2023. The transformation included refurbishment and repairs to the port’s piers as well as a new berth. The port is continuing to grow and will invest $2 million this year to improve ground transportation and provide additional ferry terminal capacity, which will serve the Royal Caribbean Paradise Island Beach Club when it begins operations. Nassau Cruise Port is also building its own day resort, complete with a massive water park. The park is currently under construction and expected to open in December 2025.
The port is looking to welcome 6.5 million passengers this year–a 15% increase from 2024. Mr. Maura, Jr. looks for 2025 “to be another banner year for Bahamian tourism.”
