Nassau Cruise Port Breaks Yet Another Record

The Nassau Cruise Port in the Bahamas celebrated another record breaking day on March 12, 2024. For the first time, the cruise port welcomed seven ships simultaneously in its harbor. The seven ships–Independence of the Seas, Seacloud Spirit, Carnival Paradise, Disney Wish, Carnival Liberty, Carnival Elation, and Vision of the Seas–brought 20,009 visitors to Nassau.

This historic day comes just 10 months after the grand opening of the newly redeveloped Nassau Cruise Port. The upgraded port has six berths capable of accommodating the largest vessels in the world including Oasis-class and Icon-class ships. With Seacloud Spirit being a much smaller ship, the port was able to accommodate all seven ships.

Speaking of the planning and coordination that was required to make this moment happen, Marquez Williams, Nassau Cruise Port’s operation manager said, “This is a historic moment for The Bahamas and Nassau Cruise Port. It’s the first time we’ve had seven ships in port on the same day. This achievement is all thanks to a lot of teamwork. I have to give a big shout-out to the Nassau Harbour Pilot Association – they did a fantastic job maneuvering these vessels into port.“

Chief Executive Officer Mike Maura said, “March 12th, 2024, will go down in history as an incredible triumph for all Bahamians. Our operations team worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth process for all vessels calling at our port today. I thank our operations team, the Nassau Harbour Pilot Association, and every other team and partner who worked to ensure this successful execution. Today signifies that Nassau remains a highly sought-after tourism destination, and that people still believe it’s better in The Bahamas.”
