Disney Cruise Line Shares New Photos of New Private Island

Disney Cruise Line has released photos of its new Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. The highly anticipated Bahamian destination will be Disney’s second private island when it opens in June 2024.

Disney previously shared that the one-of-a-kind destination would be heavily influenced by Bahamian culture and would be designed to provide fun for everyone. Fun like family beaches and water areas for kids as well as adult-only beaches.

Now, the cruise line is releasing actual photos of part of the destination. The update came from Joey Gaskins, Jr., a Disney Cruise Line team member in The Bahamas. First up are the Mabrika Cove Cabanas, which is also one of the first things guests will see when they arrive. Designed by a local Bahamian artist, the cabanas feature vibrant colors and patterns and will be available to families to relax while enjoying the white sandy beach and Bahamian waters.

Included in the images is an eatery on the island, True-True Too BBQ. What appears to be oversized sea shells scattered along the coastline provide shade for during lunch while enjoying the “beautiful views of the ocean and sand dunes.”

Another image shared was that of one of Lighthouse Point’s tram stops. Once completed, guests will find a space filled with bright colors inspired by Bahamian art and culture. The tram will be available to carry guests around the island.

The first guests will begin visiting Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point on June 7, 2024, during a 3 night preview cruise aboard Disney Magic. Guests will be immersed in Bahamian culture and tradition.

One such tradition is Junkanoo, a festival that celebrates the unique culture of The Bahamas every December. Disney has supported Junior Junkanoo through funding and also provided workshops to students to show them how the skills they possess in creating costumes and banners can take them into creative, entertainment, and design careers.
