Margaritaville at Sea Islander is almost home! She arrived in Port Everglades on Sunday, June 2, 2024, and is taking on additional supplies before continuing to her homeport of Port Tampa Bay.
When she sets sail on June 14, 2024, she will offer new and expanded programming for families. Her programming will include live music spaces, a lounge and arcade for all ages, and a first-ever cornhole-meets-mini-golf course.
”The new Islander is packed with an exciting variety of active and interactive ways for cruisers of all ages to enjoy their fun in the sun,” said Karen Maybury, vice president of entertainment at Margaritaville at Sea. “The new lineup of programming and activities designed specifically for children, teens, and families will greatly enhance the cruise experience, creating unforgettable memories for all of our guests.”
Islander is a 24-year-old ship that was originally built as Costa Cruises’ Costa Atlantica and has just completed a total transformation at the Harland & Wolff Shipyard in Belfast, Ireland. Some updates include the Caribbean Amphibian Play Pad & slide, a playground designed with kids in mind complete with a waterslide and splash-and-spray lily pad. The Dis and Dat Activity Zone offers the first-ever cornhole-meets-mini-golf course at sea as well as Paradise Pickleball at Sea. The Defying Gravity Experience is a family experience with circus-themed workshops, interactive game shows and scavenger hunts. Families will also enjoy the Far Side of the World Arcade and Lounge which offers karaoke, nonalcoholic drinks and arcade games.
Islander will also offer four complimentary kid’s clubs for kids and teens ages 3 to 17. The Jolly Mon (ages 3-5) includes a day of ocean-inspired games, arts and crafts, mermaid storytelling and more. Parakeets Kid’s Club (ages 6-9) and is a full itinerary of magic workshops, the “Escape from Chichen Itza” game, a mini-DJ academy, a ship tour, and more. The Hang Out (ages 10-12) includes games like pickleball classes, basketball, mini golf, and cornhole. Kids in the Hang Out will also enjoy the Mar-glo-ritaville glow party. The Far Out (ages 13-17) offers a movie night, a nightclub takeover, percussion workshops and a Tik-Tok/Instagram battle.
Margaritaville at Sea Islander will sail four- and five-night itineraries with ports of call in Key West, Florida along with Cozumel and Progreso in Mexico.
