Holland America Line Announced 2028 Grand Voyages

Holland America Line has announced the itineraries for its two 2028 Grand Voyages–a 129-day circumnavigation, and a 90-day deep dive down under. Holland America Line President Beth Bodensteiner shared the exciting news with guests sailing the current Grand World Voyage aboard Volendam which is en route from Seattle to San Diego.

Both 2028 Grand Voyages will offer various bucket-list experiences. Guests on the Grand World Voyage will enjoy scenic cruising through the Chilean Fjord, Glacier Alley and the Beagle Channel; a call on Easter Island; a full Antarctic Experience; and a sail-past of Null Island–the place where the Prime Meridian and the Equator meet at 0°N, 0°E. Guests on the Grand Australia & New Zealand Voyage will have access to the seldom called on shores of Western Australia. And, both voyages will call on the crown jewel of the South Pacific, Bora Bora, marking the first time Holland America Line has sent both Grand Voyages to the destination in the same season.

“What makes our Grand Voyage itineraries special is the opportunity to experience destinations more fully while visiting rare Mariners’ Collection ports exclusive to these cruises,” said Bodensteiner. “In direct response to our guests, the 2028 Grand Voyages are anchored by truly unforgettable moments, from exploring Antarctica and crossing the globe on the Grand World Voyage to sailing past Null Island, where the Prime Meridian and the Equator meet at zero, and calling at legendary destinations like Easter Island and Bora Bora.”

The 2028 Grand World Voyage will depart on January 4, 2028, from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, aboard Volendam. The 129-day roundtrip voyage will sail south through the Caribbean, along the eastern coast of South America as she makes her way to Antarctica. She will then sail north through Beagle Channel, Glacier Alley and the Chilean Fjords, and cross the equator before calling at Easter Island.

From Easter Island, she will continue through the South Pacific and French Polynesia, including Bora Bora–to spend eight days visiting six ports in New Zealand. She will then sail north through Australia, Indonesia, Singapore and Sri Lanka before a second crossing of the equator. She will sail past Null Island, and call at ports along the West African coast before crossing the Atlantic to ports in San Juan and Puerto Rico and finally back to Fort Lauderdale.

She will sail to 26 countries across six continents while calling on 45 ports. Her visits will include 16 Mariners’ Collection ports, and 31 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The 2028 Grand Australia & New Zealand Voyage will depart on January 30, 2028, from San Diego, California, aboard Zaandam. The 90-day roundtrip voyage will head west through Hawaii and the South Pacific to cross the International Date Line before arriving in New Zealand and then Australia. Zaandam will visit remote northwestern and western ports before returning via Melanesia, Fiji, Samoa, and French Polynesia. The itinerary includes an extended stay in Bora Bora before returning to San Diego.

She will sail to 12 countries across two continents while calling on 41 ports. Her visits will include 13 UNESCO World Heritage Sites which includes the Great Barrier Reef. The itinerary also includes overnight calls to Hobart, Sydney, Cairns, Fremantle (Perth), Auckland and Papeete.
