According to a Nexstar report, Carnival Cruise Line has confirmed that two passengers on a recent cruise in the Bahamas have been banned for life after a TikTok video that shows one of them fishing from their room balcony went viral.
“Fishing from our ships is prohibited. We have identified the guests and they will not be cruising on Carnival again.”
The original TikTok video went viral with over 2,000,000 views, but copies of it still remain. The video appears to show a male passenger reeling in a fish about a foot in length. It is pulled up several stories to a balcony while a female passenger makes comment about the catch.
While there is not a specific policy about fishing off your balcony while onboard a Carnival Cruise Line ship, there are multiple rules that were potentially broken here.
First, no live animals are permitted onboard any Carnival ship other than approved service dogs. Second, guests are prohibited from throwing anything off the ship. Third, guests can be subject to penalties or fines if they don’t follow local government regulations. Currently, non-Bahamian residents need a fishing permit. Last, and the most broad sweeping, Carnival reserves the right to remove a passenger for basically any reason the staff deems.
“Carnival and the Master reserve the right to disembark any unfit Guest or any Guest whose behavior affects the comfort, enjoyment, safety or wellbeing of other Guests or crew members.”
Moral of the story: If you are looking for fresh seafood, do yourself a favor and find onboard options.
