Explora Journeys, the luxury ocean travel brand of the MSC Group, has announced it is the Global Partner of the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup set to take place in Barcelona, Spain between August and October 2024. Teams from the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, Switzerland and France will compete in the Louis Vuitton Cup Challenger Series which decides who moves ahead to face the Defender, Emirates Team New Zealand, in the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup Match.
The America’s Cup is the oldest international sporting trophy which began in 1851. It is considered one of the hardest sporting endeavors and symbolizes sailing’s pioneering spirit. It is the race with no second place. Either you win or you lose.
Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman, Cruise Division of MSC Group, said, “Our collaboration with the America’s Cup pays homage to a shared seafaring history of challenge and achievement. From the rich tapestry of the Cup’s history to our own 300-year maritime tradition, this partnership embodies our commitment to excellence, innovation, and a deep reverence for the sea.”
Explora Journeys will host the prestigious America’s Cup trophy onboard its EXPLORA I on June 19, 2024. This will allow guests to immerse themselves in the legacy of this esteemed competition and also marks the beginning of a series of events in Barcelona, Spain. The Official Race Village will have a dedicated Explora Journeys area where guests can immerse themselves in the Ocean State of Mind, the Explora Journeys logo will be prominent during the broadcast of the races, and spectators will enjoy festivities and hospitality provided by the cruise line.
Grant Dalton, CEO of the America’s Cup Events, commented, “We are delighted to welcome Explora Journeys as a Global Partner to the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup. They are driven by creating exceptional experiences at sea, and I have no doubt that during the two months of racing from August 22nd we are going to see some of the most exceptional America’s Cup racing ever.”
Not only does this partnership represent the alliance of shared values and the spirit of maritime adventure but also reinforces the commitment of the Cruise Division of MSC Group to the Port and city of Barcelona. MSC Group is currently building a new cruise terminal at the Port of Barcelona that will be dedicated to Explora Journeys and her sister cruise line, MSC Cruises. It is expected to be completed later this year.
