Explora Journeys’ Explora I embarked on her maiden voyage on August 1, 2023. Explora I is the first ship to sail for the new luxury brand of MSC Group.
New York City welcomed the ship on Monday, September 25, 2023, for the first time, which marks Explora Journeys’ debut in the United States. The traditional exchange of crests celebrating the maiden call took place onboard Explora I while docked at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. The ceremony took place between the ship’s master Captain Diego Michelozzi and Captain Zeita Merchant, commanding officer of the United States Coast Guard Sector New York.

Explora I set off on her inaugural East Coast US and Canada cruise following the maiden call in New York. The itinerary includes ports of call in Boston, Massachusetts, St. John, Bay of Fundy, and Quebec City in Canada. She will then sail to PortMiami for her Caribbean season.
