Wednesday, July 31, 2024, was day two of Disney Cruise Line revealing details about its third Wish-class ship, Disney Destiny. On day one the cruise line revealed the heroes and villains-inspired ship’s homeport, a first-of-its-kind dining venue, a sweet lab, two walk-up cafes, and stateroom offerings. Day two brings more information about the ship’s entertainment inspired by Disney’s most fearsome Disney, Pixar and Marvel villains.
“The Disney Destiny is all about celebrating the bold, charismatic and driven characters at the heart of our favorite stories,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager, Disney Cruise Line. “And who are our beloved heroes without the antagonists who challenge them to prevail? We want our guests to have fun with the unique theme of this ship, and we are having a blast creating spaces and entertainment experiences that pay tribute to the villains, anti-heroes and mischief makers who have captivated Disney film and theme park audiences for generations.”
Disney Destiny will feature De Vil’s–a piano lounge inspired by Disney’s live action “Cruella” and the animated “One Hundred and One Dalmatians.” The adults-only lounge will be adorned in Cruella’s signature red, black and white. Sultry tunes will be played on De Vil’s spotted piano as guests enjoy martinis, cocktails, and wine.
A new pub, Cask and Cannon, will sit adjacent to De Vil’s. Cask and Canon will whisk guests away into the world of the “Pirates of the Caribbean.” The pub will be a “cozy watering hole” decked out with the pirate’s “pillaged and pilfered” treasures from their voyages around the world. The venue will include televised sporting events, rare, specialty and vintage rums, as well as “bootlegged” brews served straight from the barrel.
Disney Destiny will introduce a new “quirky” storyline when it debuts a 760-foot-long water ride on the upper deck–AquaMouse. The ride will be filled with Disney Animation villains like the Queen of Heart, Scar, Chernabog, and feature an original soundtrack by Emmy award-winning composer Christopher Willis and lyricist Elyse Willis. Each show available on AquaMouse will be complete with music, lighting, special effects and “splashtacular” surprises.
Taking center stage through new events and activities, meet-and-greets and special appearances will be Disney villains including Maleficent, Hades, Cruella, Captain Hook and Mr. Smee. Guests will also be treated to appearances from the misunderstood Captain Jack Sparrow, Bruno and Loki. Disney Destiny will also feature “A Nightmare Before Christmas” Oogie Boogie themed trivia event and dance party.
Like Disney Treasure which debuts later this year, guests will find a Haunted Mansion Parlor onboard Disney Destiny. The venue features characters from Haunted Mansion attractions and an original nautical storyline. Guests can enjoy spooky themed ghostly cocktails and will find haunted homewares and spooky souvenirs in shopping venues around the ship.
Disney Destiny will be about 144,000 gross tons and powered by liquefied natural gas. She will be the sister ship to Disney Wish and Disney Treasure which both homeport from Port Canaveral.
