It’s Cruise Ship Monday!
Today brings us Carnival Cruise Line’s Adventure-class–Carnival Adventure (2002) and Carnival Encounter (2002)–which sail in Australia. These two ships sailed for P&O Cruises Australia until March 2025 when they were rebranded by Carnival Cruise Line.
Both Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter weigh in at 108,865 gross tons, are 951 feet long, and have the capacity for about 2,600 guests. Both ships were originally delivered to Princess Cruises in 2002, transferred to P&O Cruises Australia in 2018 and then absorbed by Carnival Cruise Line in 2025.
Both ships emerged from their dry dock with access to the Hub App where guests can make dining and excursion reservations online, chat with other guests and see dining options and more on the ship. Carnival’s loyalty program, the VIFP Club, transferred over to the rebranded ships. The “Fun Squad” began hosting shows, trivia, deck parties, themed events and more bringing the cruise line’s “Fun Ship” trademark to life. Seuss at Sea, Thing 1 & Thing 2 Birthday Breakfast, and the Seuss-a-palooza Story Time and Parade will soon come to life on board as well as Build-A Bear workshop events.
However, guests will still find their favorite venues onboard like the Byron Beach Club featuring its resort-style experiences. Thrill seekers will still enjoy EDGE Adventure Park with its zipline and rock-climbing. Foodies will still find Chef Luke Mangan’s Luke’s Bar & Grill, Angelo’s and Dragon Lady. The award-winning burlesque show, Blanc de Blanc, is also still on both ships, but will soon be joined by Playlist Productions.
Carnival Adventure sails year-round from Sydney, Australia, while Carnival Encounter sails year-round from Brisbane. Both ships offer voyages throughout Australia, Asia and the South Pacific. These two ships doubled Carnival Cruise Line’s presence in Australia when they debuted in March 2025. Also sailing from Australia are Carnival Splendor and Carnival Luminosa.
