Virgin Voyages’ Resilient Lady debuted at Portsmouth, UK on August 23, 2024. This marks the first time all three Virgin Voyages’ ships have visited the same port. The cruise line has strong ties to the port–Scarlet Lady launched from the port in 2021, Valiant Lady in 2022 and now Resilient Lady in 2024.
Disney Cruise Line announced Disney Destiny will set sail from Port Everglades on November 20, 2025. Bookings open to loyalty Castaway Club members on Friday, September 6, 2024, and open to the general public the following Thursday, September 12, 2024.
Royal Caribbean Group is building another Icon Class ship. They announced an agreement with Finnish shipbuilder Meyer Turku to construct a fourth ship with the option for a fifth and sixth ship. Royal Caribbean Group has launched four new ships so far in 2024–Royal Caribbean International’s Icon of the Seas and Utopia of the Seas, Silversea’s Silver Ray and TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff 7–and has seven new ships on order.
Carnival Cruise Line released new Caribbean itineraries for seven of its ships sailing from four US homeports in 2026 and 2027. Most of the sailings will feature either Half Moon Cay or Celebration Key which debuts in the summer of 2025. The itineraries vary from 6- to 8-nights along with some 14-day Carnival Journeys voyages.
Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Splendor is on her way Down Under. She completed an extensive drydock in Singapore during most of August and is returning to Sydney Harbor. She will sail with the trademark red, white, and blue hull design of Carnival’s fleet as well as feature a Southern Cross motif on her hull, a signature element of P&O Cruises Australia that is becoming part of the Carnival fleet.
Norwegian Cruise Line continues to bring joy to teachers as they announced the winners of its fifth annual Giving Joy Program. Educators from across the United States and Canada were nominated and recognized for their dedication to their students. 20 winners are invited to attend the exclusive two-day inaugural event aboard Norwegian Aqua while the 5 Grand Prize winners are also invited to sail Norwegian Aqua’s three-night christening voyage.
