Cruise News Digest–October 13, 2024

Welcome to the weekly Cruise News Digest. Here you can catch up on the past week’s cruise news and all things La Lido Loca

Let’s dive in!

This week has been marked with news of Hurricane Milton and cruising being disrupted. Every cruise line in the area of the hurricane had cruises with itineraries changed, remained at sea or canceled. Gratefully, Tony, the lovely Jenny B and their families weathered the storm, but not everyone was as fortunate. We at La Lido Loca continue to keep those affected in our prayers as recovery is made from not only Hurricane Milton, but also Hurricane Helene.

Carnival Cruise Line’s Christine Duffy has agreed to tandem skydive on October 19, 2024, to raise money for Hurricane Helene. She is partnering with the Round Canopy Parachute Team and hopes to raise $50,000. The jump will be made from “Tico Belle” when Carnival Paradise departs from Port Tampa Bay on a first-ever 5-day roundtrip voyage chartered by Special Forces Legacy Initiative Cruise. Since the initial story, Duffy has set a new goal of $75,000 for hurricane relief efforts and the Micky and Madeleine Arison Family Foundation has pledged to match all donations.

While Sun Princess was unable to make her debut in Port Everglades due to the hurricane on October 8, 2024, she did arrive safely on October 11, 2024. After spending a few days in port for media events she will depart on her first voyage from Port Everglades on October 14, 2024. She will sail Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings through March 2025.

MSC Cruises is expanding its partnership with GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS after setting 30 record-breaking world titles in the last 18 months. The GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS programming is currently on 12 of the cruise line’s ships, and is expected to be available across the entire fleet within the next year.

Norwegian Cruise Line and the National Hockey League have committed to a multiyear deal making Norwegian Cruise LIne the official cruise line of the NHL. The partnership gives NCL exclusive marketing rights connecting the cruise line with the NHL and its fans through the NHL’s marketing, digital and social media channels. Additionally, the cruise line will be represented at key hockey events such as NHL All-Star Weekend, NHL Stadium Series, NHL Winter Classic, and more.

Carnival Panorama has received Carnival Cruise Line’s new red, white and blue livery while in dry dock in Singapore. She is the last of the 27 ship fleet to receive the hull livery and various enhancements. Along with the new hull colors, she has been outfitted with a non-smoking casino near the main casino, an Effy Fine Jewelry store, a Carnival Adventures store, a Dreams Studio, and a mini golf course.
