Welcome to the weekly Cruise News Digest.
Let’s dive in!
This Monday we explored Carnival Cruise Line’s Sunshine-class ships–Carnival Sunshine, Carnival Sunrise and Carnival Radiance. Which have you been on?
64% of Cayman Island voters voted “no” to a cruise berthing infrastructure during its most recent election. Unfortunately with Cayman being a tender-only port, this decision could push the cruise industry further away. With today’s megaships carrying more than 5,000 passengers, tendering can become a significant problem.
Norwegian Cruise Line’s Giving Joy is back! Take the time to nominate an educator and they could win one of 20 cruises. Three lucky grand prize winners will enjoy Norwegian Luna’s christening voyage in the spring of 2026.
Carnival Cruise Line is working toward streamlining ticketing for its shore excursions. It successfully launched the program in Australia and is testing it throughout the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Expect all excursions at Celebration Key to be digitally ticketed when it opens in July 2025. The cruise line expects to launch the program throughout the Bahamas, the Caribbean and Mexico by the end of 2025 and available in Alaska and Europe by summer 2026.
MSC Cruises is just months away from the opening of its Galveston cruise terminal and the debut of MSC Seascape from that terminal. MSC Seascape will sail 7-night Western Caribbean itineraries embarking on Sunday with calls at Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; and Roatan, Honduras.
We hopped on over to our last featured island this week–Disney Cruise Line’s Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Pointe. Only Disney Cruise Line ships visit this island at the southernmost tip of Eleuthera in The Bahamas. Families can choose from various water activities, excursions, shopping and more.
