Welcome to the weekly Cruise News Digest. Here you can catch up on the past week’s cruise news and all things La Lido Loca

Let’s dive in!

On February 20, 2025, Norwegian Breakaway arrived at the Damien Shipyard in Brest, France for a three-week-long drydock. She will undergo regular maintenance and receive additional enhancements including the addition of the new Silver Screen Bistro, Horizon Park, The Stadium, and more.

Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas will host the 2026 Star Trek: The Cruise IX which celebrates the show’s 60th anniversary. Fans will find some of their favorite characters onboard for live panels and Q&A sessions, themed shows, and meet & greets. The lineup is star-studded with William Shatner leading the way.

Carnival Cruise Line has added facial recognition technology to Carnival Sunshine’s new Virginia homeport, Norfolk. The technology saves a significant amount of time for disembarking guests and also allows the cruise line to move up ship departure times.

Scarlet Lady, Virgin Voyages’ first lady, is celebrating five years of service. Throughout those years, she has sailed throughout Europe and the Caribbean. After her “full-on glow up,” she returned to the Caribbean where she will sail until April 2025. When she returns to Europe in April, she will visit new destinations, including Iceland.

If you like short getaways, you will like that Royal Caribbean is expanding its lineup of short cruises for 2026-27. Eleven Royal Caribbean ships will sail 2- to 5-night voyages from Florida and Texas. They will sail a mixture of Eastern and Western Caribbean voyages as well as call on Nassau, Key West and the cruise line’s private destinations. Bookings are open now.

Holland America Line is booking its 2026-2027 Panama Canal and Hawaii voyages. During the season, six ships will sail 14- to 28-day itineraries from five different North American homeports, visit tropical destinations and UNESCO World Heritage sights. One sailing to Hawaii will even allow guests to start a new tradition of Thanksgiving in Honolulu.
