Cruise News Digest–June 30, 2024

Welcome to the weekly Cruise News Digest. Here you can catch up on the past week’s cruise news and all things La Lido Loca

Let’s dive in!

Princess Cruises revealed an exclusive VIP package for its Love Boat themed cruise in August. Fans of the show can join Princess Cruises Celebrations Ambassador Jill Whelan (Vicki), along with her fellow “Love Boat” cast members Bernie Kopell (Doc), Fred Grandy (Gopher) and Ted Lange (Issac) aboard the Enchanted Princess for an exclusive cocktail party, reserved seating for a cast Q&A, first in line for a meet & greet, dinner, and so much more. The 7-day round trip cruise will embark from New York on August 31, 2024.

MSC Group’s luxury brand, Explora Journeys, is launching a new signature dining venue aboard Explora I called Anthology. The Italian cuisine has been curated by Franck Garanger, the cruise line’s head of culinary, and celebrates the finest Italian ingredients that highlight the culture and culinary heritage of the Mediterranean.

Carnival Corporation is entering into a 10-year berthing agreement with the Port of Seattle giving the cruise line priority berthing at both of the port’s dedicated cruise terminals. The agreement, which takes effect later this year, includes all cruise brands within Carnival Corporation and lasts until 2033 with the option to extend the deal through 2038.

Disney Cruise Line revealed the seven themed areas of what will be its largest ship when she debuts, Disney Adventure. The cruise ship promises to be “both a journey and a destination” bringing to life each venue–Disney Imagination Garden, Disney Discovery Reef, San Fransokyo street, Wayfinder Bay, Town Square, Marvel Landing, and Toy Story Place–through Disney’s signature magic, storytelling, and adventure.  Disney Adventure will sail from Singapore’s Marina Bay Cruise Centre in 2025 becoming the first ship to homeport in Asia for Disney Cruise Line.

Crystal Cruises signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri for two more high-end cruise ships which doubles the cruise line’s fleet. The first ship is to be delivered in the spring of 2028 according to the initial agreement. This announcement comes just two years after Crystal Cruises was purchased out of bankruptcy for A&K Travel Group.

Disney Cruise Line also made an announcement about the dining venues aboard its Disney Treasure that will debut later this year. The ship will feature a “The Aristocats” themed adult lounge, a “Guardians of the Galaxy” dining venue, a “Coco” inspired menu in Plaza de Coco, and a “Zootopia” sweet treats option. Disney Treasure will sail her maiden voyage on December 21, 2024.
