Cruise News Digest — June 11, 2023

Welcome to the weekly Cruise News Digest. Here you can catch up on the past week’s cruise news and all things La Lido Loca

Let’s dive in!

Coral Princess began her 2023 Australia World Cruise on Sunday, June 4, 2023. She headed out of Sydney and will visit six continents and 26 countries.

Continuing with news from Princess, Sapphire Princess was able to rescue 51 passengers and 16 crew members from a small expedition ship in Alaska. Wilderness Discoverer was in Glacier Bay National Park when a small fire broke out in the engine room. Fortunately, everyone was safe and the Sapphire Princess continued on her journey.

Wednesday brought us news from the first Chinese domestically built ship. Adora Magic City was floated out and underwent a series of trials and equipment testing. Looks like she is one step closer to her debut at the end of the year.

Holland America announced its 2024-25 Asia cruise season. The cruise line intends to deploy two ships, Westerdam and Noordam, that will visit 49 ports of call throughout 10 countries.

The latter part of the week brought news from Virgin Voyages. On World Oceans Day, the cruise line released its second annual impact report. The report outlined the cruise line’s initiatives to make “An Epic Sea Change For All.”

Interestingly enough, Virgin Voyages then changed the schedule for its Resilient Lady inaugural Australia and New Zealand program. However, the change did come about due to feedback from the cruise line’s Sailors and travel partners.
