Cruise News Digest–July 7, 2024

Welcome to the weekly Cruise News Digest. Here you can catch up on the past week’s cruise news and all things La Lido Loca

Let’s dive in!

Princess Cruises has officially opened Love by Britto on Sun Princess. Guests will find Love by Britto–a feast for both the eyes and the palate–on deck 17. The restaurant is a creative collaboration between Brazilian artist Romero Britto and the cruise line’s Head of Culinary Arts, Chef Rudi Sodamin. Guests who wish to enjoy the seven-course dinner in the 68-seat romantic venue can book pre-cruise in the Princess app.

Hurricane Beryl has been in the news and changing cruise ship itineraries all week. Unfortunately, Beryl is breaking records as the strongest July Atlantic hurricane, the earliest Category 5 Atlantic hurricane, the first June Category 4 hurricane, and more. The tropical storm is expected to strengthen again before making landfall in Southern Texas’ Coastal Bend as a Category 1 hurricane sometime today.

Seabourn Pursuit was named by the Wunambal Gaambera people in a unique ceremony at Ngula Jar Island, Australia. The day-long ceremony honored Wunambal Gaambera country, the people and the Kimberely region. Loyal Seabourn cruisers, Vince and Jane Roig, presented the Wunambal Gaambera a gift to symbolize the cruise line’s partnership with the aboriginal people.

Port Canaveral earned Green Marine certification for the eighth consecutive year. Port Canaveral is one of only 32 ports in the United States to receive the distinction and only the third port in Florida to have been awarded the honor. Green Marine’s international certification program includes ports, terminal operators, shipyards and ship owners.

This fall, Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Dream will receive some exciting changes–her first major remodel since entering service 13 years ago. Both youth venues–Oceaneer Club and Edge–will be revamped, a Fantastical Funnel Suite is being added, the vessel’s standard suites will be remodeled as well as the Concierge Lounge. Additionally, her spa is being remodeled and a new Mexican quick service dining option is being added to Deck 11.

GRAMMY-winner singer and songwriter, Meghan Trainor, has been announced as godmother to Royal Caribbean International’s newest Oasis-class ship Utopia of the Seas. The christening will be a 3-day event beginning July 15, 2024. It will be attended by special guests, crew members, media, partners, 52 fans (one for every week of the year) plus their guests and include a live performance by Trainor on land and at sea.
