Exciting news came out of the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany when Carnival Jubilee was floated out. Those in attendance were surprised to see a Texas star on her bow, a nod to the Lone Star State which represents the cruise line’s commitment to the Port of Galveston.
Holland America Line announced a members-only onboard credit for AARP members. The onboard credit can be used for various amenities on the majority of sailings that Holland America offers. The onboard credit is up to $200 per stateroom based on the type of stateroom and length of the cruise.
In other Holland America news, the cruise line is adding a unique itinerary to its Legendary Voyages. The “42-day Ultimate Mediterranean & Atlantic Passage” mimics a voyage the cruise line operated in February 1925. The roundtrip voyage aboard Volendam departs from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on November 9, 2024. Guests will cruise the Atlantic and experience 16 ports in nine countries before it returns on December 21, 2024.
Norwegian Cruise Line announced their fourth annual “Giving Joy” contest winners. The contest celebrates educators who bring joy to their students and community every day. 20 winners received a free seven-day cruise with the three grand prize winners invited to attend the exclusive four-day christening voyage of Norwegian Viva.
Twenty Galveston students interested in maritime careers were invited to tour Carnival Breeze as part of the Maritime Careers Summer Camp. The Maritime Careers Summer Camp is a free week-long camp that allows eighth, ninth and tenth grade students to visit the Galveston Wharves and Carnival Breeze, along with tours of the cargo port and naval vessels, visits to active military training facilities and hands-on work designing and constructing autonomous underwater vehicles. The camp has served more than 100 students since 2015.
Princess Cruises has updated its Princess Plus and Princess Premier packages. The cruise line added casual dining, OceanNow delivery service, room service delivery and express Green Lane embarkation to the packages at no additional cost. The upgrades apply to voyages embarking August 12, 2023 or beyond.
