Carnival Reveals Plans for Starfish Lagoon

Carnival Cruise Line’s Celebration Key is opening in July 2025, but today they announced plans for Starfish Lagoon–the latest portal to be revealed at the new private destination still under construction located in The Bahamas.

Starfish Lagoon promises to be a family-friendly “tropical playground in paradise” designed for children of all ages, and their parents. Starfish Lagoon will be centered around one of the largest freshwater lagoons in the Caribbean and will feature two water slides, the pink Flash Flamingo and blue Mach III Marlin. Each slide is over 350 feet long and will weave guests in and around the iconic 10-story Suncastle.

At the entrance to Starfish Lagoon, parents of young children will find a colorful, coral-reef themed water play area–Guppy Grotto. Children will enjoy the two-foot-deep wading pool, water toys, and a dump bucket. Parents will find shaded seating and an ice cream shop nearby.

The sports enthusiast will want to visit the Game Pavilion and Sports Court. Guests will find table games like foosball, ping pong and corn hole at the Game Pavilion, while the Sports Courts will feature volleyball, basketball and pickleball courts.

Families looking for some relaxation the entire family will enjoy will want to check out the floating AquaBanas. AquaBanas are floating cabanas with seating for eight and a table for drinks which are available to rent. The 12 “private islands” are situated around a peninsula with a dedicated bar. Other more traditional cabanas are also available to rent.

Adults will find a variety of drinks and specialty frozen rum cocktails at the Swim Up Bar. Next to the 10-story Suncastle, guests can relax as they swing over the water in a hammock. Guests can rent a kayak or paddleboard to enjoy the blue waters or stay on the beach for a game of frisbee, to build a sandcastle, or relax on a sun lounger, under an umbrella or in a cabana. And, of course, there will be a variety of restaurants, snack and drink shacks as well as Bahamian food trucks.

“At Carnival, we carry the more children than any other cruise line, so we’ve designed Starfish Lagoon specifically for family fun,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.  “Toddlers, teens and adults alike will find their own piece of paradise whether it be racing down one of the waterslides, playing a round of pickleball or relaxing on our floating AquaBanas.”

Starfish Lagoon is the fourth portal to be revealed. It joins Paradise Plaza, Calypso Lagoon, and Lokono Cove. Details on the fifth portal–an adults-only retreat–are expected to be revealed soon.

There are currently more than 500 itineraries open for sale visiting the private destination on Grand Bahama. Cruisers can choose from 18 different ships sailing from 10 U.S. homeports.
