Carnival Luminosa Sets Sail on 30-Day Journeys Cruise

Carnival Cruise Line’s  Carnival Luminosa set sail from Seattle yesterday, Thursday, September 15, 2023, on a repositioning cruise with a remarkable itinerary after finishing a her season in Alaska.

The 30-night transpacific cruise is part of the cruise line’s Carnival Journeys sailings. Carnival Luminosa is sailing to Brisbane, Australia where she will homeport for the summer season.

Carnival Cruise Line Brand Ambassador said of the cruise, “Today marks the start of a very special voyage. Having completed a wonderful Alaskan cruising season the Carnival Luminosa will leave on a 30 day voyage home to Australia. Now this is not our longest ever voyage but it is a truly stunning itinerary.”

Before arriving in Brisbane, Carnival Luminosa was to make calls in Ketchikan and Icy Strait Point along with a scenic cruise of the Hubbard Glacier. However, the weather in Alaska has caused the ship to skip both ports of call along with the Hubbard Glacier and head straight across the Pacific Ocean to Japan.

Carnival Luminosa will now have what is sure to be ten amazing days at sea which includes crossing the International Date Line. She will arrive in Japan a couple days earlier than planned, therefore Carnival has added two more ports of call, Otaru and Hakodate, and canceled the call to Kushiro. The other Japanese ports of call, Aomori, Tokyo, Hiroshima and Naha, remain unchanged.

Upon leaving Japan, cruisers will enjoy two more days at sea before arriving at Puerto Princesa in the Philippines and Bitung in Indonesia. The repositioning cruise will be complete when Carnival Luminosa arrives in Australia on October 15, 2023.

While in Australia, Carnival Luminosa will offer Great Barrier Reef, South Pacific and Airlie Beach cruises from Brisbane. Some sailings will also visit Papua New Guinea.

In April 2024, Carnival Luminosa will reposition to North America for her second season in Alaska and Canada. She will continue to homeport between Seattle and Brisbane through at least 2025.
