President of Carnival Cruise Line, Christine Duffy was named to the Forbes 50 Over 50 List 2024 in the lifestyle category. The fourth annual list was produced in partnership with MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski and her Know Your Value initiative. The 50 Over 50 list showcases unstoppable women who are “thriving in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond.”
The 50 Over 50 List is a group of entrepreneurs, investors, inventors, philanthropists, artists and more. The 200 women, who were selected from thousands of nominations, are spread across four categories–Lifestyle, Impact, Innovation and Investment. Each woman is an innovator and change maker that proves success has no age limit or deadline.
Duffy, the only cruise line executive on the list, is one of 50 remarkable women who were chosen in the lifestyle category. She stands in the company of women all across industry and entertainment. Women like Val Ackerman, commissioner of the Big East Conference; Bela Bajaria, Netflix Chief Content Officer; Celine Dion, Grammy-award winning artist and one of the best-selling artists of all time; Michele Kang, first woman of color to own a National Women’s Soccer League team; Julia Louis-Dreyfus, comedy superstar and podcaster; and Patti Smith, musician, poet, author and photographer, just to name a few.
Of the recognition, Duffy said, “I’m honored to be recognized for this prestigious recognition and be among the company of such incredible women. Over the course of my career, I’ve been inspired by many great leaders I have had the privilege of working with, and now I try every day to offer that same level of mentorship and lead by example. That’s pretty easy to do with our tremendous shipboard and shoreside teams who motivate and inspire me.”
Before being named as Carnival Cruise Line’s first female president in 2015, Duffy was named the first female president of Cruise Lines International Association. She oversees Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet of ships, is a member of the board of directors of Aimbridge Hospitality and Herschend Family Entertainment, serves on the U.S. Commerce Department’s Travel and Tourism Advisory Board, and sits on the Professional Advisory Board of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In April, Duffy was inducted into the Cruise Line International Association Hall of Fame and awarded the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award.
Duffy has been an advocate for womens’ leadership in the travel industry and helping them advance their careers, and now, she has been named to the Forbes 50 Over 50 List 2024 [Know Your Value]. Congratulations, Ms. Duffy!
