Carnival Cruise Line is expecting its busiest summer season yet. The cruise line is sailing its largest fleet and opening its newest exclusive destination, Celebration Key, this summer.
“Summer is the busiest time for travel and Carnival Cruise Line is poised for one of our largest summer cruise schedules ever. Many Americans are within a five-hour drive of one of our 13 U.S. homeports, so they can easily access one of our fun-filled cruises. With most meals, entertainment and other activities included, a Carnival cruise represents a significant value over land-based vacations,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “This summer is set to be especially memorable as we open Celebration Key on Grand Bahama, our game-changing destination that will deliver the ultimate day in paradise for our guests.”
Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Carnival Cruise Line estimates it will host nearly two million guests on its 29 ships making more than 1,200 visits to almost 100 destinations throughout 15 countries. Over Memorial Day weekend alone, Carnival will embark 23 cruises from 10 U.S. homeports.
Passengers are expected to generate $635,000,000 worth of economic impact before and after their cruises in the line’s U.S. homeports. Between the opening of Celebration Key on July 19 and Labor Day, the private destination will host 15 Carnival ships from eight homeports–80 visits in all.
Also this summer, Guy Fieri’s Guy’s Burger Joint will serve 2.8 million burgers fleetwide. Guests will make 13 million ice cream cones, eat 2.4 million slices of pizza, and drink 6.5 million sodas. Onboard restaurants and bars will serve 1.3 million glasses of wine and 4.4 million beers.
Additionally, Carnival has three ships sailing to Alaska from Seattle (Carnival Luminosa and Carnival Spirit) and San Francisco (Carnival Legend) this summer that will embark about 100,000 passengers. Carnival’s European summer season has already begun with Carnival Miracle sailing to destinations across 17 countries. Furthermore, Carnival Cruise Line is celebrating 20 years of sailings from Rome in Italy. The cruise line is also working on a new ticketless platform for excursions at its most-visited destinations.
Cruising with Carnival this summer looks like a great way to “Choose Fun!”
