Carnival Cruise Line has surpassed its fundraising record for St. Jude Children’s Hospital in 2022. The previous record set in 2018 was $2.8 million. That number was quickly demolished in 2022 with $3.4 million raised for the hospital. Since 2010, Carnival Cruise Line has raised $26.2 million for rh children’s hospital.
During the fourth quarter, Carnival raised more than $1 million which exceeds its highest fourth quarter to date. This is attributed to Carnival’s newest ship, Carnival Celebration. She was inaugurated in November and attendees of the event celebrated by donating to St. Jude. During November alone, 30 percent of cash collections were donated.
Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line and member of the St. Jude Professional Advisory Board, said, “These results are proof that Carnival Cruise Line has the most giving guests and the most caring crew in the world who join together in our commitment to St. Jude’s lifesaving mission to find cures for childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. As the cruise line that serves more children and families than any other, we are proud to have a long-standing partnership with St. Jude as we work to reach our goal of raising $33 million for St. Jude by 2025.”
Carnival Cruise Line is the Official Celebration Partner of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Carnival hosts many events and activities at the hospital. They have initiated fundraisers such as the Groove for St. Jude dance party and a Build-a-Bear Workshop at sea. Kids design their own St. Jude bear and enjoy a cookie amenity package. Proceeds from all fundraisers benefit St. Jude. Carnival guests were also given the opportunity to participate in fundraising and purchased more than 100,000 St. Jude Groove shirts and over 27,000 St. Jude bears.
Carnival also hosted an on-the-road event, Agentpalooza. Agentpalooza is an event where travel agents were asked to donate to St. Jude and was held in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Norfolk, and Charlotte. This fundraiser raised another $60,000 for St. Jude.
