Carnival Cruise Line President Receives Prestigious Award

President of Carnival Cruise Line Christine Duffy was awarded the 2024 Cruise Lines International Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Duffy was recognized at the 2024 CLIA Hall of Fame Cruise Industry Awards where Carnival Corporation & plc’s president and CEO Josh Weinstein not only introduced Duffy but also inducted her into the CLIA’s Hall of Fame.

Duffy is at the helm of the world’s most popular cruise line and oversees Carnival’s fleet of 27 ships which sail from 14 US homeports as well as two Australian homeports where she oversees three ships that sail for P&O Cruises Australia. She leads more than 48,000 Carnival Cruise LIne team members who serve more than 5.5 million guests annually.

“I’ve felt my whole life that travel is the industry for me and while I may have missed the height requirement when I applied to become a flight attendant early in my career, I’m delighted and grateful that my work in the cruise industry has taken me to heights I never imagined,” said Duffy. “I share this honor with my Carnival family and remind everyone in our industry that our work has great impact and contributes to what are often the most memorable moments in people’s lives. Our industry generates tens of billions of dollars of economic activity and innovation every year, and we have great momentum that makes me very optimistic for our future.”

Duffy joined Carnival Cruise Line in 2015 becoming the cruise line’s first woman president. Before that she completed a successful tenure as president and CEO of CLIA as well as spending 10 years at Maritz Travel Company where she became that company’s first woman president and CEO. During her career, Duffy has been an advocate for women’s leadership in the travel industry helping them advance their careers.
