Wonder of the Seas is Overbooked…Again

If you think you’ve seen this headline before—you have. Royal Caribbean has once again informed guests that their sailing onboard Wonder of the Seas has been overbooked.

This is the third time in six months that Royal Caribbean has oversold the world’s largest cruise ship. They have cited “an unexpected inventory error” as the reason. This is the same reason they gave in December 2022 and March 2023.

“We’re sorry to inform you that due to an unexpected inventory error, your scheduled Wonder of the Seas April 30th, 2023 sailing is currently oversold. We’re aware that this may cause disruption to your booking, so if your travel plans are flexible, you may be able to take advantage of our special offer.”

Since being oversold, guests have been presented with three options: reschedule, cancel, or remain booked.

Those that are able to reschedule have been offered two alternate dates—July 9, 2023 or August 20, 2023. These sailings are also 7-Night Eastern Caribbean & Perfect Day sailings. They had the same itinerary with ports of call to Perfect Day at Coco Cay, St. Thomas and St. Maarten.

Cruisers who cancel will receive 100% refund and a 100% Future Cruise Credit (FCC) for an alternate cruise of their choosing. The new booking must be completed by April 30, 2024. If you happened to use FCC for this sailing that will be reinstated and the new FCC will be added as well.

As before, Royal Caribbean is informing their cruisers about this overbooking just days before departure and citing unexpected inventory errors. What “unexpected inventory errors” is unclear to cruisers and unexplained by Royal Caribbean.
