After two years of construction, she’s here! Royal Caribbean International’s Utopia of the Seas docked at Terminal 1 in her homeport of Port Canaveral, Florida just before 7:30 am on Thursday, July 11, 2024. The sixth Oasis-class ship is ready to make her official debut on Friday, July 19, 2024. She will be the first Oasis-class ship to debut with 3-night weekend and 4-night weekday short getaways to Nassau in the Bahamas and the cruise line’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.
The “game-changing” Utopia of the Seas was handed over to Royal Caribbean International by The Chantiers de l’Atlantique Shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France on June 13, 2024. She embarked on her transatlantic cruise on June 23, 2024. She made a stop in Ponce, Puerto Rico for some tests before continuing to her homeport of Port Canaveral.
Now, Utopia of Seas will sail a 2-day “shakedown” cruise for final testing and give the crew more opportunity to get to know the ship before sailing her three-night christening cruise on July 15, 2024. Royal Caribbean recently announced GRAMMY-winning artist Meghan Trainor as the ship’s godmother. Not only will she take part in the official naming ceremony, she will perform a private concert at the outdoor AquaTheater while at CocoCay.
A few of the 40 ways to dine on Utopia of the Seas are The Pesky Parrot, a Caribbean tiki bar; The Spare Tire, a food truck-style venue; and Utopia Station–an immersive train car dining experience. Guests will find more pools and hot tubs than days in the itinerary, thrilling rides like The Ultimate Abyss and the FlowRider, a “Perfect Storm” water park, two casinos, live music, world-class entertainment, and more.
The second largest cruise ship in the world can accommodate 5,600 passengers and 2,200 crew members and debuts as the first Oasis-class ship and the cruise line’s second ship to be powered by the cleanest marine fuel available, liquified natural gas (LNG).
